John has worked in this field since 1987 as he loves working with people in an ever-changing contract market sector. Whether from a technical skill or a legal, legislative perspective, he always aims to provide clients the best service possible and loves this challenging sector. He knows SMCC is more relevant than ever! With most companies having in-house recruitment teams they are extremely busy, focussing on their core business which is finding quality permanent staff. Companies often do not have the man-power to be able to deal with contractors and the necessary checks, governance and associated legal contract and ever-changing SMCC fills that extremely important gap, working seamlessly with clients and acting as an extension of their own business arm.
John is proud that he provides over 20 years’ experience of taking care of that crucial space between contractor and client. SMCC provide clients and contractors at all levels of business, with screening, checks, payments, invoicing and contracts that are up to date with the latest industry legislation that protects both contractors and clients.
John is a service orientated individual who cares! He is conscientious and straightforward to deal with. He enjoys exposure to different characters and takes time to understand them individually and the type of service they want. He is also extremely competitive and passionate about what he does! He wants the best for his clients and wants to give them the optimum value service he can, securing the people for their business they want, to help them achieve their goals without fuss. He believes that an honest relationship, built on a long-term perspective is what makes for an enjoyable and successful service provider company.
When John was asked to work with a major global company, who had issues with contracts for their various on-site consultants and needed to be managed on an ongoing basis, he sat down with around 80 contractors, to understand their situation, provide the correct contract solution while providing assistance to the client in-house to achieve minimum disruption, a streamlined payments and invoicing solution and most importantly, retain the key people for the client that worked going forward for the years going forward.
Outside of work John loves sport! Watching it and taking part. John runs regularly in his local parkrun, as well as being part of a local club and recently completed his first Ultra-Marathon (100K)! He also is an avid fan of football, basketball, boxing, tennis & table tennis!
Ian has worked in this field for over 13 years. He loves this sector as it is a fast paced, client facing and service oriented environment which recognises and rewards successful delivery. He grasped the opportunity to work in this sector as he enjoys the variety of people, companies and industries, as well as feeling that he is playing a part in enabling two parties to achieve their ambitions.
He understands that SMCC has a wealth of experience gained from years of providing contract staffing services. SMCC staff have seen the industry mature and are always ready to adapt to meet the evolving needs of the business, to consult and add value as a trusted partner. The emphasis placed on integrity, relationships and flexibility shown outwardly toward clients also exists internally within the day-to-day work environment. Ian’s success in this business has come through his ability to get a firm grasp of the requirements of the task, being analytical in approach, thorough in delivery, able to be creative when required and provide a personable, professional service. He is proud that he could satisfy an urgent request from a global professional service company to ready over 30 contractors in an incredibly brief time frame. To achieve this Ian worked solidly over the course of the weekend, burning the midnight oil to successfully have everything in place for the start of the following week.
Ian has two sons, so much of Ian’s time outside of work is oriented around family activities along with being involved in the life of his local church. Ian has recently begun playing an electric guitar. He has always enjoyed playing sport, (basketball, football, rugby, cricket…) and many forms of fitness training. Also, he does not need much of an excuse to invite clients for a day of fly fishing on the River Test!
Tim has worked in the contracting sector since 2006, his experience has helped him understand the importance of moving fast, being flexible and providing a premium service. Tim is passionate about working with people and enjoys building relationships as well as nurturing existing ones.

Tim sees that social media like LinkedIn & Twitter has brought clients and contractors both closer together, so many contractors are choosing to go direct, eliminating the need for a head hunting / recruitment service. SMCC bridges that gap where clients need their contractors on-board & pay rolled within hours so they can hit the ground fast. SMCC is built from the ground up with people who have worked in the contracting market over many years and are passionate about this. SMCC understand that clients need contractors on board fast and contractors need to be paid fast, SMCC bridges the gap enabling direct relationships between clients & contractors.
Tim enjoys working with people and understands the value of nurturing long standing relationships with existing clients as well as building new ones. He understands it takes years to build a relationship and minutes to lose it. He believes that integrity, honesty and hard work go a long way.
Tim is proud to of provided an on-boarding and payroll service to a very well-known, global luxury retail organisation. Tim facilitated the onboarding of a number of key contract staff to boast a number of key global programmes. Tim worked closely with the Senior Management to bring the contract staff they knew on board fast, within hours in some cases.
In his spare time Tim enjoys keeping fit, reading & eating. As a doting father, he also spends as much time as he can with his two daughters.
